 Twice a year, the Ward Studio provides its course offerings in a full-time, six-week intensive format. This program appeals to students looking to accomplish significant growth in a short period of time. Our intensive sessions are especially attractive to college and international students, who cannot find Meisner training in their home communities. But whether you're local or coming to New York for an extended visit, we welcome your participation. The Six-Week Intensive reflects the seriousness of our regular acting program and challenges students to work at a more professional pace and greater intensity than they may be used to. While our students do have fun, most report that they accomplished much more than they had anticipated -- in large part, due to our high expectations. It is important to note that the Intensive demands a high quality of attention, and participants should be clear that their weeks will be full. Classes generally meet during the day with breaks for rehearsals and work on class assignments. Classes are rarely scheduled for the evenings or weekends, making it possible for students to work part-time jobs. The curriculum is designed to give students more than broad brush introductions. Rather, at the end of our program, we return our summer students to their home communities with stronger skills, improved discipline and a more robust enthusiasm toward building their careers. In considering our program, please pay special attention to the Career Mentoring Workshop. This is a most unique offering and is of great assistance to actors in managing the professional and lifestyle requirements that accompany a career in the performing arts. Our students find this program to be so supportive that each summer several of them use the workshop to plan their relocation to New York City, both to complete their Meisner training at our studio and to begin pursuing work in the NY marketplace.
