International Students

With its diverse and constantly evolving theater scene, New York is one of the most exciting cities in the world for an acting student to come and study his or her craft. Under the instruction of master teachers who are specialists in their fields and committed to their students' artistic growth, the Ward Studio provides a tight-knit community of teachers and students that provides support to actors as they boldly confront new challenges to their craft and in their careers.

There are two ways for international students to begin their training with us:

The Six-Week Intensive

Perfect for the international student who can stay in NYC for a only a short while. This program is so thorough that significant growth is accomplished in just six weeks' time. No special Visa requirements – just your regular tourist Visa.

Performance Training Internship

As a Performance Training Intern, you will receive your J1 Visa and work full-time as an actor, designer, administrator, marketer and acting student under master teachers for a three to twelve-month term.

Step 1:

 Apply to the Ward Studio for one of our Six-Week Intensives (prerequisite to internship).

Step 2:

 Contact US Arts at www.usartstraining.org to co-ordinate your application for the J1 Visa, which allows you to stay for up to 12 additional months. Potential interns must meet their qualifications.

Step 3:

 Once accepted, forward your discounted tuition to the Ward Studio. Ward Studio staff will then help you in logistical planning, such as finding housing, etc. For more info, feel free to call us and speak to a current intern!

Our Performance Training Internship turns actors into theater artists

Interns begin as students in our Six-Week Full-Time Intensive where they receive concentrated training in the Meisner Approach to Acting, as well as Vocal Production, Audition, Monologue and Career Mentoring coaching. Upon successful completion of the intensive, our interns continue their Meisner training while simultaneously performing in the Performance Studio. Here, they further develop their skills as they act, direct, design, and provide marketing and administrative support for the Ward Studio and its Performance Studio Program.
