Overview
The Ward Studio is a professional actor training program that offers courses in the Meisner Approach, in Audition Technique and Career Mentoring, in Text Interpretation and Vocal production while simultaneously providing rich performance opportunities through our Advanced Performance Workshop, Company and Professional Internship/Trainee programs. Our classes are offered in a part-time format, which is beneficial to students who presently support themselves with bread and butter jobs and to working actors who want to continue their training without having to attend a full-time or two-year Meisner program.

Twice a year, we offer our courses in full-time, six-week intensives, which are particularly attractive to local actors who want to affect major transformation in a short period of time and to college and international students who may not find similar training offered in their home countries and wish to get a taste of the New York city marketplace.

Our program has been structured with the flexibility to accommodate the varying needs of:
  • Experienced actors; preferring shorter-term technique training, needing to jump-start their careers in our Career Mentoring Program, or wishing to participate in our performance training program
  • Intermediate students; who have trained elsewhere but wish to dive deeper into their craft with peers who are equally committed to their work
  • Meisner-trained actors; who desire additional performance experience, monologue coaching or training in effective audition technique; and, finally
  • Mature newcomers; who may be taking their first acting class but have the strength of character to begin their training under professional standards.
The Four Parts of the Ward Studio Acting Program
Students may enter the program in their area of choice and move from program to program as their needs advise them. Each of our programs addresses a basic need.

Acting Program
The best actors working today are universally admired for the depth of their character work, the authenticity and emotional honesty they bring to the role, and the compelling nature of the stories they choose to tell. But how does an actor get there from here?

Performance Training Program
Our Performance Training Program churns out an average of ten shows per year, providing a robust performance environment where our students are able to continually test and improve the quality of their skills in the rehearsal and performance setting.

Career Mentoring/Audition Technique Program
Life as a performing artist has a specific set of challenges unlike any other profession. And, all actors, regardless of talent, training or representation, need to become more proactive in accepting the responsibility they have for building their careers.

The Six-Week Intensive
Offered twice a year, during winter and summer sessions, our Six-Week Intensive is a full-time program consisting of a combination of courses from each of the training programs.
